In the silent plains of Utah, in the spring of 1999, a gray foal was born who years later was to receive a dreamlike nickname: “the maker of champions.” WH…

WH Justice was born on 16 May 1999 at Wendell Hansen’s farm in the U.S. state of Utah; his mother, Vona Sher-Renea, was a mare that Hansen had borrowed on trust from her owners, David and Jo-Anne Goodrich. His father, Magnum Psyche, a two-time national champion of the United States, Canada, and Argentina, was considered one of the most influential “type” stallions in the history of Arabian horse showing, and his mother, Vona Sher-Renea, was a daughter of El Sher-Mann, a horse that itself came from the legendary line of El Shaklan and the Egyptian line. This blood mixture linked his pedigree to the Egyptian foundation stallion Mansour (born 1921). WH Justice was sold to Equid System Ltd in Europe only four months after his birth, and from the very beginning he embarked on a transcontinental path.

In the early years of his presence in the show ring, WH Justice quickly proved that he was something more than just a beautiful pedigree. At the Paris World Championship, he placed among the top ten horses three times, in 2001, 2002, and 2004, and twice, in 2002 and 2004, he won the Most Beautiful Head Award. In that same year, 2004, he also added the titles of British International Stallion Champion, All Nations' Cup Stallion Champion, and European Reserve Champion in the stallion class to his record. Even in middle age, while being kept at Om El Arab/Aljassimya Farm in California’s Santa Ynez Valley, he achieved silver stallion championship at the Arabian Breeders World Cup in Las Vegas in 2013; proof of a still-competitive presence at an older age.

But it was as a sire that WH Justice achieved a lasting legacy. He was bred to selected mares including daughters of QR Marc at Aljassimya, producing a dazzling line of champions: CR Jasmeenah, world and U.S. national champion; Bess Fa'izah, world champion; Om El Sinon, gold stallion champion at the Supreme Gold World Cup; and Om El Benicio, who in 2018 was unanimously crowned U.S. national champion in the AOTH stallion class. His European offspring also shone; including Juwanda OS, FM Gloriaa, and Panarea by Palawan, each of whom became European champion, and Aja Justified, who won world, European, and Nations Cup titles in the junior division.

WH Justice’s influence also extended to later generations. His sons Jaal Aljassimya, Jalal Aljassimya, and Sahm El Arab themselves became breeding stallions and continued his bloodline. One of his daughters, RP Miss Surprise, on her own produced fifteen American champions by ten different stallions; a number that few stallions in this breed’s history have been able to inspire. In 2011, his offspring also dominated the Italian national championships so thoroughly that he was named the top sire (Get of Sire) of that competition, and in 2014 and 2015 he also claimed the title of top sire at the Santa Ynez Arabian Foal Festival.

Over more than two and a half decades, WH Justice resided at some of the world’s most prestigious Arabian horse breeding centers: from Equid System Ltd in Europe, to Aljassimya Farm in California from 2011 to 2014, then Al Shaqab Stud in Qatar during 2016 and 2017, and from 2017 to Knocke Arabians in Belgium. In the end, he set out on the road to retirement at Hanaya Stud, owned by Nayla Hayek in Switzerland and Germany, under the care of Frank and Elisa Spönle.

WH Justice turned twenty-seven in May 2026, while still being counted among the most influential stallions in the history of the Arabian horse. His dished profile, long arched neck, expressive movement, and unmatched charisma gave a new definition to the ideal “type” of the show Arabian horse; qualities he stamped on his offspring, who shone on championship podiums from Paris and Prague to Doha and the United States National Championships.

Today the name WH Justice is linked with the nickname that has stuck with him: “maker of champions.” A record written both in the show ring and through his later generations has made him one of the main pillars of modern breeding of the pure Arabian horse worldwide.
